Q: What is the "HSJH Annual Washington D.C. Trip?"

Answer:  Every year the HSE junior highs organize a trip that takes the 8th graders on an amazing adventure to our nation's capital in Washington D.C.!  The trip always takes place over President's Day Weekend in February.  To put it simply, this trip is awesome!  This really is a once in a life time opportunity.  By 8th grade, students have reached the perfect age to really appreciate the amazing things there are to see and do at our nation’s capitol.  We pace this trip to rival even the typical junior high age attention span.  Students will get to see a plethora of things in person that they can only talk about in the classroom.  The memories the students make on this trip will last a lifetime.  We have teacher chaperones that went on the DC trip when they were in junior high and to this day they still remember the great things they learned and saw.  The trip is by no means required, especially given its extensive cost.  However, with numerous fundraisers and scholarship opportunities every student could possibly go on this trip with a little extra work.  Registering as a 7th grader can lock you in at the discounted early registration price, provide time to make payments more comfortable, and if you wish it can offer your 7th grader a chance to actively "earn" the trip by participating in the fundraisers. For more info about the trip please click on the link to our trip's Google drive.  Any additional questions?  Email Eric Brown (ebrown@hse.k12.in.us) who organizes the trip for both HIJH and FCJH.
