How can a parent help out?
Two words: CABIN PARENT! We need Cabin Parents! Our Camp Tecumseh program can not survive without the help of our parents volunteering to be cabin parents. Contrary to what you might think, being a cabin parent is more like a vacation then anything else! Please ask any of our former cabin parents and they will agree that it was a great experience and well worth their time and effort. For more info please use the link below. What do I need to do get my child signed up?
Forms will be sent home over the summer break in a mailer. This will include the cost and medical release/permission form. Please have these forms and payment ready to turn in at the "Panther Preview." All financial hardship questions should be directed to director Eric Brown (ebrown@hse.k12.in.us) Below is a downloadable version of the medical release/permission form.
What is 7th grade Camp Tecumseh?
Camp Tecumseh is a HSJH tradition that spans over thirty years!! During the first full week of October the 7th grade class relocates the classroom and fulfills the mandatory curriculum in an outdoor setting at a camp outside West Lafayette, IN. Campers spend three days and two nights covering curriculum in a hands on setting.
Statistically 95% of all 7th graders go on this field trip. However, students who do not attend camp will still attend school. They will have an assignment packet that will attempt to cover similar material to the lessons taught at camp. If for some reason you do NOT want your child to attend camp, please contact director Eric Brown (ebrown@hse.k12.in.us) Below is some more info about the trip (accommodations, meals, etc). A copy of this info will be sent home again in the future.
